The M/S Mount Washington cruise ship gliding across Lake Winnipesaukee
If you're spending a weekend here in New Hampshire’s beautiful Lakes Region for a wedding celebration at the farm, you’re already in for a treat. But if you're looking to make the most of your time here, we highly recommend taking a day trip to Wolfeboro, fondly known as "The Oldest Summer Resort in America." This is the perfect wedding party activity if you’re looking for a day of great fun! Nestled on the eastern shore of Lake Winnipesaukee, this picturesque town is full of lakeside charm, local flavor, and a touch of adventure—perfect for first-time visitors.
Start Your Day On The Water
No trip to Wolfeboro is complete without getting out on the lake. Head to the town docks to catch a ride on the U.S. Mail Boat, the Sophie C.—a unique experience where you'll cruise around the lake delivering mail to island residents. It’s a one-of-a-kind way to see the beauty of Lake Winnipesaukee up close while learning about the area's history and culture.
If you're looking for a classic New Hampshire experience, you can also hop aboard the M/S Mount Washington, a scenic cruise ship offering narrated daytime tours of the lake. Either option gives you an unforgettable view of the surrounding mountains and lakeside cottages.
Stretch Your Legs On The Rec Path
Once you’re back on land, take a stroll or rent a bike and explore the Wolfeboro Rail Trail, a scenic recreational path that winds along the lake and through peaceful woods. It’s an easy, family-friendly trail with plenty of spots to stop and take in the view, or snap a photo or two. This is one of our favorite things to do near ColdSpring Farm when we are looking for a different place to stretch our legs!
